The activities of the Archipelago sea biosphere reserve have been divided into five themes. This structure simplifies coordination of the work done by different participants.

The themes are:

A vital archipelago community
Nature Management
Working together for a cleaner sea
Sustainable tourism
The Archipelago Sea biosphere reserve as a "brandname" for the south-western archipelago.
